I would say that a Zionist is someone who believes, as I once did, that Jewish survival requires a state built on the displacement and control of another people, and who has been conditioned to experience that belief not as ideology but as identity, safety, and moral duty. Someone who cannot yet see the cost of what they're defending because the system is designed to make that cost invisible.
