Blood sacrifice to absolve sins through transference is a far worse sin. Murdering another sentient being is just horrendous. So, glad you have escaped that horror. 🙏

Are we in 2026?

Muslims have the same barbaric practice, slaughtering goats for Eid. And Christian societies the world over sacrifice billions of sentient beings every year for Christmas and Thanksgiving, and Catholics sacrifice fish every Friday. Every day, everywhere, sentient beings are sacrificed on the altar of human hubris, even if not for their delusional religious practices.

Now, that's novel. Next step in the logical progression is to worship Kosher chickens, the saviour of Hebrews.

Interesting. You're vegan? If your dog is suffering and/or terminal, would you have the vet kill it? It's sentient until it breathes It's last breath.

Christians, of course, figuratively do the same thing... albeit without the overhead waving... instead we are to "accept" that the one time sacrifice of the Lamb of God absolves our sins, past and future.

As a society, we have become almost incapable of considering potential consequences as the fruit of our actions, and without that consideration, it is difficult to "own" our own actions, together with responsibility for their ACTUAL consequences.

Thats a bit of a jump to go from a Kosher chicken to the Son of God.

I said "Lamb of God".

And both religious metaphors (lambs and chickens) appear to gain their symbolic power from the same theological proposition: to wit, that (someone else's) blood is the one currency that can "buy" (ie "redeem") and take away the sins connected to actions of ours.

Only if you believe in divine and/or human supremacy

Virtually the entire human race has abandoned its relationship to the consequences of its actions, but especially the consequences of killing other beings. It must be done. But doing so should elevate us to a higher plane of humility. Only chumps thank God for food. Beings of honor thank the animals whose life they just ended in order to continue their own.

It generally takes the insanity of unquestioned dogma to produce such refined horror.

We have no music, no scripture, no songs venerating the souls of the countless beings whose deaths kept us going. We are the deranged alien species that thinks it can have its cake and eat it too, that it can be in two places at once, that there just has simply GOT to be a fig leaf that will cover all the icky stuff that is inescapably true.

Maybe some kind Sky God will lend us a hand?

Jesus Christ was sacrificed for sin once and for all. Our faith needs to be in Him.

We human beings come up with all sorts of bizarre ideas.
