Religions can be cults but at their best are not. Modern cults are obsessions with science, medicine, health, the climate, veganism, material wealth, the famous etc.
I had the same thought! We humans are all too likely to use religion—any religion—as a means of control, rather than the pathway to the spirit that it ought to be.
cult/kʌlt/A cult is generally defined as a group of people characterized by unusual or extreme devotion to a set of beliefs, an object, or a charismatic leader.
In modern sociological and psychological contexts, it often refers to an insular, authoritarian group that uses manipulative control to exploit members. While the term can carry varying nuances, experts and organizations typically identify cultic groups by several distinct traits:
Authoritarian Leadership: The group is centered around a single, charismatic leader (or belief or religion) who demands unquestioning loyalty and often positions themselves as infallible or divine.
Coercive Control: Behavior modification techniques (often termed brainwashing) are used to dictate members' daily lives, personal choices, finances, and relationships.Isolation and Insularity:
Members are systematically cut off from mainstream society, creating an echo chamber where only the group's information is trusted.
Exploitation: Members are frequently exploited financially, physically, or psychologically for the benefit of the group.
The "Us vs. Them" Mentality: The group views the outside world as corrupt, dangerous, or doomed, which justifies their own insular and sometimes extreme practices.Historically, the word derives from the Latin cultus ("worship" or "cultivation") and was originally used to describe formal religious rituals.
Takes awareness, inner character. and strength to question, much less to step out of, the machine, big or small. Not easy, but you were ready and could'n't continue living life that way. 🎉💪
Happy for you!!! and yet the abuse continues even in small degrees aa we see here in the comment section of your Substack. The flying monkeys will do what they can to attack and shame to weaken you as they bolster their mirage for their own peace and for the collective.
As an aside, cause I never want to come across as minimizing(?) your story, I see similar dynamics in the matrix many of us live in, ie, this system (cage) we exist/ participate in. There are a great many who've grown disatisfied disgruntled and tired of it. Some seek answers and solutions FROM it. Some break away, go off-grid, etc .... but it's so all encompassing and seeks to keep us all reined in, enslaved. Its upcoming plans for a police state with surveillance confirms its hate and low opinion of humanity. May we find courage and determination to break out, as you did from your cage.
Thank you 🫂. You aren’t minimizing my story at all. The whole point is that it’s just a reflection of all the systems. If you single out one system, you’re likely missing the one you’re standing in.
Your explanation of the way the cult of Zionism works is very clear, especially what you said about the belief that leaving the cult is considered too dangerous to contemplate. It came up during the live discussion when I said the alternative to a Jewish supremacist state is a one democratic state not based on identitarianism. A comment came back, "but would they (i.e. the Jews) be safe?' Even though the evidence in front of our eyes is that it is NOT safe to be a Jew in Israel right now and that it IS safe to be a Jew anywhere outside of Israel, it is still promoted as the only place for Jews to be safe.
There is a cult technique known as ‘phobia indoctrination’ which binds members to the cult by misrepresenting the dangers of disagreeing with group-think. I have seen this in action In the gender identity 'cult' where lies and distorted facts about suicide and murder risk among trans people make it less likely that their supporters listen to any other points of view. Supporters are isolated from friends and family by falsely portraying people who disagree with them as wanting them killed and of being guilty of hate crimes.
You could in fact be discussing any number of conservative Christian groups. The results are equally toxic.
Absolutely
It is a perfect description of a Cult. Israel is a Cult and Israelis and their followers are brainwashed in the Cult of Israel.
Yes it’s a cult, which is why this is the invitation to examine all the cults we are a part of.

Science, medicine, health, the climate are not the same as religious cults. Thank you.
They are when they manifest in Cult form. Modern science, Scientism is a Cult;
Climate Change is a cult and much of modern medicine, particularly vaccines and medications in general operate as Cults.
Read the definition of Cult.
You seem to have a dim view of science
They aren’t necessarily cults, but one would have to be extremely naïve and ignorant to not know that they can be.
Or any number of groups, in general. :)
I had the same thought! We humans are all too likely to use religion—any religion—as a means of control, rather than the pathway to the spirit that it ought to be.
Absolutely - and not only religion. All systems of control that use similar blueprints.
A near perfect description of a cult
Much respect for the courage required to take that step.
I appreciate you 🙏

Absolutely. I’d even been told that if something happens to my family members serving in the military I’d be the one held directly responsible.
